One Year at Supply HQ
This week marks the one year anniversary of Supply HQ. It's hard to believe it's already been a lap around the sun, and yet - so much life has happened in this space in the last year.
In case you're new around here, we spent the first four years of our business working out of a spare bedroom of our house. Quality control happened in our living room. Our garage was our warehouse, and our laundry room our packing room.
We moved to an amazing space just five minutes down the road, and what a difference it has made. If you've ever worked from home for an extended period of time, it loses its luster very quickly. To have a dedicated space to grow our company (plus separate home and work) has been a game changer. Here's a few highlights of the past year.
Supply HQ Grand Opening Party
We kicked off our year with a big party inviting our friends and community to come see our new space. There was epic charcuterie, giveaways, tours of our space and our neighbor The Darkroom, and even a live painting demonstration.
We did a full recap of the party over on this blog. A little know fun fact: we received a certain phone call the very next day that would change the trajectory of the rest of our year.
Prepped for our Shark Tank Airing
The day after our grand opening, we got the call. We were under consideration for Shark Tank's Season 11. Over the next two months, we mentally prepared, practiced our pitch ad nauseam, and did our best to plan for a possible swim in the tank.
We recapped our entire experience over in this blog series, but our Supply HQ was the space where we spent hours pouring over every detail beforehand. We hosted practice pitches for close friends, spent time brainstorming every possible question that could be fired at us, and had very little sleep.
Visitors from Near and Far
Customers from all over have stopped by to say hello and share their personal experience with us. After working for years behind a computer, having face-to-face interaction with our Supply family has been incredibly special.
We've had local customers that live just down the street to customers all the way from Dubai. Even one of our favorite wetshaving experts, Sharpologist, drove up from College Station for the night just to attend our grand opening party. Time and again, we consider ourselves lucky to serve and be a part of such an amazing community of people.
Our Shark Tank Watch Party
To say this is one of the highlights of our entire time as a company is an understatement. Once we got an air date from ABC, we knew we wanted to share this moment with friends and family and watch our episode live at Supply HQ.
There was shark-themed everything, photo booths, raffles, and of course, the live airing of our appearance on ABC's Shark Tank Season 11. Missed it? You can see a clip of our pitch here.
Growing our Team
By the end of 2019, we had grown our team to a total of five employees. It's hard to even calculate how many hours were spent together at Supply HQ post-Shark Tank and during the holiday season.
The one thing that never wavered through that time was our team's dedication to taking care of every customer with the highest care possible. There is no way we could have survived those months without them.
As we look ahead to this next year, we have high hopes to continue to grow not only as a business but in our team as well. Cheers to year two at Supply HQ.
